Five men are facing charges for their alleged connection to a drug trafficking scheme across York County.
During the investigation, the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency says multiple controlled purchases of fentanyl and crack cocaine were made.
On Tuesday, authorities say they searched a home at 754 Pool St. in Biddeford and found drugs, evidence of drug trafficking, and suspected drug proceeds.
Police say they arrested 32-year-old Derrel Brunson of New York and 53-year-old Donald Newton of Biddeford.
Brunson was charged with aggravated trafficking of fentanyl and Newton was charged with conspiracy to trafficking in fentanyl.
They were taken to the York County Jail where Brunson’s bail was set at $30,000 and Newton’s bail was set at $4,000.
On Wednesday, authorities say they searched a home at 14 Center St in Biddeford and found drugs, evidence of drug trafficking.
Police say they arrested 39-year-old Matthew Plante of Biddeford and charged him with aggravated trafficking of schedule W drug – cocaine base. He was taken to the York County Jail where his bail was set at $10,000.
On Thursday, authorities say they searched a home at 29 Mountain View Lane in Lyman and found drugs and guns.
Police say they arrested 41-year-old Christopher Powers-Burns of Lyman and 38-year-old Paul Kastberg of Alfred.
Powers-Burns was charged with unlawful trafficking in fentanyl as well as multiple additional warrants. Kastberg also had multiple warrants. Both are being held at the York County Jail without bail.
The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency says Biddeford, Saco, Old Orchard Beach, Sanford, Lyman, Waterboro, Buxton, Hollis, Dayton, Limerick and Lebanon have been affected by this drug organization.
The investigation is ongoing, and more charges are expected.
