3 people arrested on aggravated drug trafficking charges
Three Bangor residents are facing felony drug trafficking charges in connection with a months-long investigation, according to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.The Maine DEA said its North Central Task Force began investigating suspected drug trafficking that was happening at an Ohio Street apartment. According to authorities, agents conducted controlled purchases of fentanyl from 25-year-old Brandon Bautista.Agents and police officers executed a search warrant at the residence at 247 Ohio St. on Wednesday morning.The Maine DEA said agents seized more than 10 pounds of methamphetamine, more than 3.5 pounds of fentanyl and more than 2 pounds of cocaine as a result of the search. Authorities said the estimated street value of those drugs is more than $750,000.Three handguns and more than $120,000 in suspected drug proceeds were also seized by agents during the search, officials said.Bautista, 28-year-old Lacey Sockabasin and 31-year-old William Wright were all arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking of Schedule W drugs.The Maine DEA said the suspects are facing aggravated charges due to the weight of the drugs, the firearms and the apartment’s close proximity to a preschool, which is directly across the street from the residence.According to the Maine DEA, Wright was out on bail for aggravated trafficking of cocaine base and fentanyl when he was arrested.The suspects’ bail will be set when they are arraigned Friday, Oct. 4.
