A mother has been charged with murder of her four-year-old son in Hackney, Met Police have said.
Keziah Macharia, 41, of Montague Road, Dalston will appear in custody at Thames Magistrates’ Court later charged with the murder of Kobi Dooley-Macharia.
Kobi was found with knife injuries; he was taken to hospital for treatment but later died.
A post mortem examination is scheduled to take place on 28 December.
Police were called to the address after receiving a call at about 23:00 GMT on Wednesday raising concerns for the welfare of a child.
On Thursday, the Met’s Det Ch Supt James Conway said: “This is an extremely distressing incident which will understandably cause shock and disbelief amongst the local community and those who attended the scene.
“We are working with our partners, including Hackney Council and the school community, to ensure support is there for people who need it.”
