Three men have been killed and one has been critically injured after a car carrying five people in their 20s crashed in north-west London.
Police were called to reports of the crash at 23:26 BST on Sunday at Staples Corner retail park, Brent Cross.
Three men died at the scene. Two others were taken to hospital and one of them had non life-threatening injuries.
It is believed that no other vehicle was involved in the incident, the Metropolitan Police said.
Insp William Mcdonald said: “Emergency services responded last night to what seems to have been a terrible accident.
“An urgent police investigation is under way to establish the full circumstances, led by detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit.
“Officers are in the process of informing the families of the five young people. The families will be supported by specialist officers. I send them my sincere condolences.”
The Met, London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance responded to the crash.
Fire crews and at least a dozen police officers remain at the scene.
The car appeared to have crashed into bushes near the roundabout at Staples Corner West.
Access to both the overpass footpath and an exit off the roundabout on to Edgware Road has been cordoned off with police tape.
A slip road from the A5 has also been closed.
No arrests have been made and the force has appealed for witnesses to come forward.
