Over 3.5 pounds of drugs seized during Brownfield bust, Maine DEA says
A Brownfield man is facing multiple charges after the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency said authorities seized over 3.5 pounds of drugs from his home.Joey St. Hilaire, 52, was arrested Wednesday after search warrants were executed at his residence at 7 Fulcher Lane in Brownfield.The Maine DEA said Maine State Police troopers have been investigating Hilaire, a convicted felon, for the past several weeks in regards to illegal firearm possession. Those troopers learned that not only was Hilaire in possession of several firearms, he was also distributing drugs throughout York and Oxford counties.Troopers sought and were granted a search warrant for St. Hilaire’s home to specifically look for firearms and ammunition, while Maine DEA agents were requested to help them in their investigation related to any illegal drug activity.The Maine DEA said agents and troopers encountered St. Hilaire in the driveway of his residence, where he was detained without incident pending the execution of a search warrant.Authorities said during the initial search for firearms and ammunition, investigators found a number of items indicative of drug use and trafficking inside the home. The search was paused and an additional search warrant was sought and granted to expand the search of the residence for illegal drugs and items related to drug trafficking.The Maine DEA said agents and troopers seized fentanyl, cocaine and methamphetamine, all of which was packaged for resale, worth an approximately $90,000 as a result of the search. Authorities also seized scales, packaging materials and more than $25,000 in suspected drug proceeds.Troopers and agents also seized two firearms from the home, a loaded 9 mm handgun and a rifle, along with more than 500 rounds of ammunition, according to the Maine DEA.After his arrest, St. Hilaire was transported to the Oxford County Jail. His bail was set at $75,000.
