CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KBSI) — Cape Girardeau City Councilman Rhett Pierce announcing his resignation after his arrest.
In an email to Fox23, Pierce said: “In light of the recent allegations, I feel that resigning my position on the City Council would be in the best interest of my constituents and the City of Cape Girardeau. Thank all of you for your support, and I would appreciate it if you would hold off on judgment and allow the justice system to play out.”
Pierce was arrested on September 26th 2024 for his alleged involvement in methamphetamine distribution.
According to police, Pierce has admitted to purchasing and selling methamphetamine. A search of his home uncovered evidence including 122.4 grams of methamphetamine and two 9mm handguns. He faces charges related to narcotics possession, distribution, and illegal possession of firearms.
