WILMINGTON — A local man will serve up to seven years in prison for drug trafficking, as determined by a judge Monday.
Andrew Delmar Holman pled guilty after being arrested at a Carolina Beach gas station in September 2023. Officers found 4.6 grams of a fentanyl and heroin mixture in his vehicle, along with cocaine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
“We have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to fentanyl trafficking,” newly appointed district attorney Rebecca Zimmer Donaldson said. “This deadly drug is destroying lives, and my office will continue to pursue maximum penalties against those who bring it into our communities. I want to thank the Carolina Beach Police Department for their swift response and thorough investigation.”
Officers responded last year on Sept. 23 to a call from a concerned citizen of an unconscious person located in the passenger seat of a car at the Scotchman on Canal Drive. Upon arrival, law enforcement found Holman and his girlfriend in a lethargic state and detected the smell of marijuana. While investigating they learned of an outstanding warrant Holman had in Durham and placed him under arrest before searching the vehicle.
Narcotics and drug paraphernalia were discovered in the passenger area, as well as opioid overdose kits and $200 in cash. Holman was under a $306,500 bond at the New Hanover County Detention Center since his arrest.
