BATON ROUGE — On Oct. 23, the Baton Rouge Police Department arrested Richie Brown of Baton Rouge after an ongoing investigation for drugs and firearms trafficking. Brown has previously been arrested seven times, according to officials.
In September, Baton Rouge Police’s Special Investigation Detectives and agents from the ATF began investigating Brown. Based on their investigation, detectives were able to obtain a search warrant for an apartment on Monet Drive in Baton Rouge.
Multiple agencies executed the warrant and Brown was taken into custody on Oct. 23. According to officials, the following items were located in the apartment:
• 1 Glock .40 caliber Handgun
• Digital scale and other drug paraphernalia
• Multiple bags of marijuana totaling approx. 430 grams
• 8 dosages/units of MDMA (also known as ecstasy)
Brown has previously been arrested on charges ranging from narcotics to robbery on multiple occasions. On Wednesday, he was arrested and charged with the following:
• Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
• Illegal carrying of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance (CDS)
• Distribution of Schedule I (Marijuana)
• Distribution of Schedule I (MDMA)
• Possession of drug paraphernalia
• Illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) in the presence of a minor
