The rapper known as Tekashi 6ix9ine was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of violating his conditions of supervised release.
The “Gummo” rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, was arrested on a warrant issued by the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, according to NBC News and ABC News.
He was arraigned on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty, news reports said.
Hernandez’s lawyer, Lance Lazzaro, told NBC News that the rapper had been charged with three technical violations regarding his release and that “We are confident that each specification will be dismissed,”
After being charged with racketeering and conspiracy to commit murder in 2018, Hernandez was put on supervised release in 2020.
He was facing a 47-year sentence, but after testifying against his gang, Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, prosecutors recommended a lighter sentence.
He was arrested in January in the Dominican Republic on charges he assaulted his girlfriend, Dominican rapper Yailin la Más Viral.
