An Ohio man wanted in other states for multiple crimes, including rape, is now facing drug charges in North Alabama.
According to the Priceville Police Department, officers initiated a vehicle stop on Interstate 65 southbound near mile marker 331 for improper lane usage about 11:30 p.m. on Monday.
Once officers made contact with the occupants of the vehicle, a narcotics field investigation began.
As a result, police say a quantity of fentanyl and marijuana was located inside the vehicle.
A passenger in the vehicle was later identified as 38-year-old Steven Ramone White.
Initially during the stop, police say White gave false identifying information to officers, hindering their investigation.
According to police, it was ultimately determined White was a violent fugitive from justice with multiple active nationwide extradition warrants in multiple states for rape, kidnapping, sexual assault, importuning, compelling prostitution, and aggravated assault.
White was taken into custody and additionally charged with trafficking fentanyl, unlawful possession of marijuana, and using false identity to avoid/hinder prosecution.
White was booked into the Morgan County Jail early Tuesday morning, where he is being held without bond.
