Rutland man sentenced to 190 months in prison for drug, gun crimes
A Rutland man will spend nearly 16 years in prison after he was convicted on a number of gun and drug charges.Federal prosecutors said 53-year-old Lawrence Jackson, who went by the street name of “Boo-Bee,” was sentenced on Friday to 190 months in prison. Jackson was convicted back in April of seven drug trafficking and firearm offenses following a jury trial.Court records show that Jackson was the leader of a drug trafficking ring in Rutland that was responsible for distributing large amounts of cocaine between December 2020 and November 2021. During that time, Jackson and his associates distributed drugs from multiple locations and used violence to further his operations. He was also found to have sexually assaulted women and engaged in sex trafficking in the area. Jackson will also be required to complete five years of supervised release after completing his sentence.
