Five Lowell residents were arrested Friday on illegal gun and drug charges following a months-long undercover investigation and a sixth suspect is sought, Middlesex District Attorney Marian T. Ryan’s office said.
Kevin Chou, 26, Norath Chou, 30, Vesnar Van, 35, Jacob Boyce, 27, and Theresa Naill, 43, are expected to be arraigned Tuesday in Lowell District Court on several firearm and drug charges, Ryan’s office said in a statement.
An arrest warrant has been issued for John Miller, 31, of Lowell, officials said.
The suspects were arrested on warrants after an investigation conducted by State and local police, which began in February, the statement said.
From March to October, investigators sent an undercover agent to purchase drugs from the suspects, according to the statement.
Police searched Miller’s home Friday and seized approximately 400 grams of cocaine and over $51,000 in cash, the statement said. Three firearms, two AR-style rifles, ammunition in various calibers, multiple large capacity magazines, and over 900 grams of cocaine were seized from the alleged home of Van, Kevin Chou, and Norath Chou, officials said.
“These defendants, over an extended period of time, are alleged to have been trafficking in substantial quantities of cocaine and other drugs and offering AR-style rifles and other weapons for sale to unlicensed individuals,” Ryan said. “These weapons, coupled with the large supply of ammunition which was recovered, created a significant danger and we know too well the havoc that this amount of cocaine can create.”
