Israel-Hezbollah War Live: Netanyahu refutes allegations of deliberately attacking UN peacekeepers in Lebanon
“The charge that Israel deliberately attacked UNIFIL personnel is completely false. It’s exactly the opposite. Israel repeatedly asked UNIFIL to get out of harm’s way. In fact on the day Israel began its grand operation next to our border with Lebanon, we asked them specifically to please leave this area so you’re not harmed. Israel is not fighting UNIFIL, it’s not fighting the people of Lebanon. It is fighting Iran’s proxy Hezbollah which uses Lebanese territory to attack Israel,” said Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu said.
Netanyahu says Israel will hit Hezbollah everywhere in Lebanon including Beirut
In a statement made on Monday, Benjamin Netanyahu, the Prime Minister of Israel, declared that the country will launch attacks against Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed organization, across Lebanon, including its capital, Beirut. The Prime Minister’s remarks came during his visit to the military base that was targeted by a Hezbollah drone strike the previous day.
“We will continue to hit Hezbollah in all parts of Lebanon – even in Beirut,” Netanyahu asserted, emphasizing Israel’s determination to confront the group throughout the country.
Israel-Hezbollah War Live: Hezbollah says launched ‘big rocket salvo’ at north Israel town
Hezbollah announced that it had fired a volley of rockets targeting the northern Israeli town of Safed. The attack comes more than three weeks after Israel escalated its aerial assault against the Iranian-backed organization in Lebanon.
In a statement, Hezbollah claimed that its fighters launched a “big rocket salvo” at Safed, asserting that the action was taken “in defence of Lebanon” and as a response to Israeli strikes on Lebanese “cities, villages and civilians”.

Israel-Hezbollah War Live: Iran says ‘no grounds’ for indirect talks with US
Iran has stated that it currently perceives “no grounds” for engaging in indirect discussions with the United States through the intermediary of Oman, citing the ongoing crisis in the Middle East region. In June, Tehran had acknowledged participating in indirect talks with Washington via Muscat, despite the absence of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
According to a report by the US news website Axios, officials from Iran and the United States held indirect talks in Oman “on how to avoid escalating regional attacks” at that time.
As part of a regional tour to meet with allies and Middle East powers following Israel’s vow to retaliate against Tehran’s recent missile attack, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi visited the Gulf sultanate on Monday. During his visit to Muscat, Araghchi informed reporters, “Currently, we don’t see any grounds for these talks, until we can get past the current crisis.”
He further explained that the talks had been suspended “due to the specific conditions of the region.”
Spanish PM says ‘no withdrawal’ of UN Lebanon force
Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez said there would be “no withdrawal” of the UN peacekeeping force from southern Lebanon after Israeli attacks and calls to leave.
Israel’s offensive against the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia has thrust the UNIFIL force deployed in Lebanon since 1978 into the spotlight.
The force, which involves about 9,500 troops from some 50 nations led by a Spanish general, has in recent days reported multiple Israeli attacks that injured five of its troops and sparked international condemnation.
The previous day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on UNIFIL to withdraw for their own safety and said their presence had “the effect of providing Hezbollah terrorists with human shields”.
Spain condemned Netanyahu’s call for the force to pull back and “there will be no withdrawal of UNIFIL”, Sanchez told a forum in Barcelona.
Sanchez affirmed his commitment to a 2006 UN Security Council resolution agreed after the last major Israel-Hezbollah conflict, which stipulated that only the Lebanese army and UN peacekeepers should be deployed in south Lebanon.
That commitment “makes more sense today than ever after seeing what is happening on the ground”, Sanchez said.
Israel-Hezbollah War Live: UK govt sanctions Iranian military chiefs after Israel attack “
The British government has imposed sanctions on high-ranking Iranian military officials following Iran’s missile strike against its long-time enemy, Israel, on October 1. The foreign ministry announced in a statement that those targeted with travel bans and asset freezes include “army commander-in-chief Abdolrahim Mousavi and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps intelligence chief Mohammad Kazemi.”
The sanctions come as a response to the Islamic republic’s recent aggression towards Israel, a country with which it has had a long-standing rivalry. The UK’s decision to penalize top Iranian military figures demonstrates its condemnation of Iran’s actions and its commitment to holding those responsible accountable for their role in the attack.
Israel-Hezbollah War Live: EU condemns attacks on peacekeepers in Lebanon
The European Union strongly denounced the assaults on United Nations peacekeeping forces stationed in Lebanon on Monday. The EU also dismissed claims made by Israel suggesting that the UN was deliberately keeping the peacekeepers in the region to hinder military actions against Hezbollah.
Since the commencement of Israel’s ground offensive against the Hezbollah militant group, five UN peacekeepers have sustained injuries in attacks targeting their positions. The majority of these attacks have been attributed to Israeli forces. Josep Borrell, the EU’s foreign policy chief, emphasized the significance of the peacekeepers’ mission, stating, “their work is very important. It’s completely unacceptable attacking United Nations troops.”
Lebanese Red Cross says at least 18 killed in an Israeli strike in northern Lebanon
An apartment building in the northern Lebanese village of Aito was hit by an Israeli airstrike on Monday, resulting in the deaths of at least 18 people, according to the Lebanese Red Cross. Udine on high alert ahead of Italy’s match against Israel
The city of Udine is on high alert as Italy prepares to host Israel in a Nations League soccer match on Monday. The match is set against the backdrop of the ongoing Middle East conflict, which has spread to Lebanon after over a year of war in Gaza. It marks Israel’s first match outside neutral Hungary this year, following previous games in Kosovo, Andorra, and Belgium, the latter of which was also played in Hungary due to security concerns.
Italy coach Luciano Spalletti expressed hopes to use the match as a platform against war. Less than half of the Stadio Friuli’s 25,000 seats have been sold, with strict security measures in place. Areas around the stadium were cordoned off 48 hours prior and declared a “Red Zone.” A pro-Palestine demonstration is planned in Udine city center hours before the match, with an expected turnout of around 4,000 people.

Israel-Hezbollah War Live: Israeli strike on hospital tent camp kills 4 and ignites a fire that burns dozens
An Israeli airstrike on a hospital courtyard in the Gaza Strip early Monday killed at least four people and caused a fire that spread through a tent camp for displaced individuals, leaving over two dozen severely burned. The Israeli military said it was targeting militants hiding among civilians, though no evidence was provided. The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, already overwhelmed from an earlier strike on a school-turned-shelter that killed 20 people, struggled to manage the influx of casualties. Hospital records report four dead and 40 wounded, with 25 transferred for severe burns.
The war, which began in October 2023 after a Hamas attack on southern Israel, has led to ongoing Israeli airstrikes and ground assaults across Gaza, resulting in over 42,000 Palestinian deaths, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. The conflict has also displaced 90% of Gaza’s population. Additionally, Israel is engaged in military operations against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, raising concerns of a broader regional conflict.

According to the civil defence agency, Israeli “quadcopters” conducted an attack near al-Fouqa School, located in the refugee camp in northern Gaza, as reported by Al Jazeerah. The school serves as a shelter for displaced individuals.
The agency reported on Telegram that rescue teams transported the injured to Beit Lahiya’s Kamal Adwan Hospital for medical treatment.
For the last 10 days, Israel has been engaging in an extensive military operation in northern Gaza, primarily targeting the Jabalia refugee camp.

Israel-Hezbollah War Live Updates: Hezbollah airs audio recording from slain leader Nasrallah
Lebanese militant group Hezbollah on Sunday aired an audio recording of its slain leader Hassan Nasrallah just over two weeks after an Israeli air strike killed him in southern Beirut.
“We count on you… to defend your people, your families, your nation, your values and your dignity, and to defend this holy and blessed land and this honourable people,” said Nasrallah, who was killed on September 27, in a recording it said was made as he addressed the Iran-backed group’s fighters during a military manoeuvre.
Israel-Hezbollah War Live Updates: US to send anti-missile system to Israel, says Pentagon
The United States said on Sunday it will send to Israel an advanced anti-missile system – and US troops to operate it – in a bid to bolster the country’s air defenses following missile attacks by Iran.
US President Joe Biden said he was sending the system “to defend Israel.”
Pentagon spokesperson Pat Ryder said the deployment of a Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery would augment Israel’s integrated air defense system.
“It is part of the broader adjustments the US military has made in recent months, to support the defense of Israel and protect Americans from attacks by Iran and Iranian-aligned militias,” Ryder said in a statement.
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi warned earlier on Sunday that the United States was putting the lives of its troops “at risk by deploying them to operate US missile systems in Israel.”
“While we have made tremendous efforts in recent days to contain an all-out war in our region, I say it clearly that we have no red lines in defending our people and interests,” Araqchi posted on X.
Iran launched missiles and drones at Israel in April. Then on Oct. 1, Iran fired more than 180 ballistic missiles at Israel amid an escalation in fighting between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon. Many were intercepted in flight but some penetrated missile defenses.
Israel-Hezbollah War Live Updates: UN peacekeepers in southern Lebanon are in the crosshairs of Israel’s war on Hezbollah
The UN peacekeeping mission in southern Lebanon said that Israeli tanks “forcibly entered” one of their positions early Sunday, as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu demanded they leave the area.
International criticism is growing after Israeli forces have repeatedly fired on U.N. peacekeepers since the start of its ground operation in Lebanon. Five peacekeepers have been wounded in recent days.
As Israel escalates its ground invasion against Hezbollah militants in southern Lebanon, the 10,000-strong peacekeeping force is increasingly in the crosshairs, highlighting its fragility.
Relations have worsened between Israel and the United Nations over the way Israel has conducted its war in Gaza. In an unprecedented move, Israel earlier this month said the UN secretary-general was persona non grata in Israel, signaling a new low.
On Sunday, Netanyahu called for UNIFIL to heed Israel’s warnings to evacuate, accusing them of “providing a human shield” to Hezbollah.
Israel Hezbollah War Live: The Israel-Hezbollah war has intensified following escalating hostilities since October 7 attack last year. Iran’s missile attacks on Israel and Hezbollah’s drone strikes have provoked strong international reactions, with the UK imposing sanctions on Iranian military officials. The European Union condemned attacks on UN peacekeepers in Lebanon, while the US deployed missile defense systems to support Israel.
Lebanese Red Cross on Monday claimed that at least 18 killed in an Israeli strike in northern Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Gaza remains a major battleground. Israel’s airstrikes have killed several Palestinians since the Hamas attack and over 90% of Gaza’s population has been displaced. Israeli attacks on schools and shelters have drawn severe criticism, as civilian casualties continue to rise.
