Officials say that Steven Braggs, 36, of Lewiston was on supervised release when he was arrested Tuesday.
LEWISTON, Maine — A man is facing drug trafficking charges after he was arrested Tuesday at a Lewiston hotel. Police said he was found to be in possession of cocaine.
Agents with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency‘s Western District Task Force and Lewiston police assisted U.S. probation and parole officers with a probation compliance check Tuesday, according to a release Wednesday by MDEA.
The compliance check was for 36-year-old Steven Braggs of Lewiston, who was on supervised release as part of a 2015 federal sentence for the conviction of being a felon in possession of a firearm, according to the release.
Officials contacted Braggs at a Lewiston hotel where they found him with 100 grams of cocaine in his possession. According to authorities, he was arrested without incident and taken to the Androscoggin Jail, where no bail was set due to a probation hold.
Following Braggs arrest, agents were granted a search warrant for Braggs residence on Wellman Street, in Lewiston.
The search resulted in the seizure of nearly 2 kilos (1,878 grams) of cocaine, trafficking materials, and $25,300 in suspected drug proceeds, the release states.
