A motorist has died after a tree fell on their car during Storm Isha in County Londonderry.
BBC News NI has been told the man was driving along Broad Road in Limavady on Sunday night.
SDLP Councillor Ashleen Schenning described the death as “terrible, terrible news”.
“To wake up and realise that, as a result of a tree coming down, someone lost their life is just devastating,” she added.
The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said it received an emergency call at about 21:45 GMT.
Investigations continued on Monday into the cause of the fatal accident.
The police have appealed for anyone who can help with their inquiries to get in touch.
“It was cruel. The weather was cruel,” Councillor Schenning said.
“You can see, even as I was coming here today, there’s so many roads closed, so many trees down.”
The DUP’s Steven Callaghan, mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Council, said it was “devastating news” for the family.
“Sad news for Limavady and it would be shocking waking up this morning to find that some of your loved ones just haven’t made it home as a result of the storm,” he said.
Storm Isha caused widespread disruption across Northern Ireland with winds reaching 80mph in some places.
