A man has been arrested after an object was thrown at Manchester City striker Erling Haaland after he scored in Sunday’s derby at Old Trafford.
The 34-year-old was held on suspicion of throwing a missile after the Norwegian scored the first of two goals against City’s rivals United.
Police said he was arrested just after 17:00 GMT and released on bail.
The unknown object did not reach Haaland after it was thrown from the Stretford End.
City triumphed in a totally dominant display to beat United 3-0.,
Haaland scored his first goal from the penalty spot in the 26th minute as United fans chanted “Keano” to try to put him off.
The chant was a reference to the fractious on-field history between Haaland’s father Alf-Inge Haaland and United’s combative former captain Roy Keane.
But the Norwegian striker told the BBC he used the taunts as “motivation”.
The arrested man’s bail conditions include not attending football matches over the period.
