Allegations that the former SNP chief executive Peter Murrell embezzled funds from the party are “very serious”, the first minister has said.
Humza Yousaf said that it was “right” that Mr Murrell had resigned his membership of the SNP.
Murrell, who is married to the former first minister Nicola Sturgeon, was charged on Thursday by police.
He had spent 22 years as the party’s chief executive,
